En ligne : http://www.ks-mag.com/ Permalink : https://ifm3r.centredoc.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=16440 [article]Terminology of Pelvic Floor Muscle Function in Women With and Without Urinary Incontinence: A Systematic Review / Fernanda Saltiel in Physical Therapy, Vol. 98 n° 10 (October 2018)

PérinéeRésumé : Background: Pelvic floor muscle function (PFMF) is a target of the physical therapist intervention for women with urinary incontinence (UI). However, possible variations in PFMF terminology might hamper communication among researchers and health care professionals in Women's Health.
Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the terminology of PFMF regarding clear terms, conceptual definitions, and operational definitions.
Data Sources: Data sources include PUBMED, CINAHL, LILACS, and SCIELO.
Study Selection: Observational studies investigating any PFMF in women with or without UI, published in English, Spanish, or Portuguese from 2005 through 2017, were considered.
Data Extraction: The risk of bias was assessed by a questionnaire on the quality of observational studies. Data on terminology were extracted as terms, conceptual definitions, and operational definitions of PFMF and were synthesized according to key words, key ideas, and key operationalization, respectively. Consistencies and variations were identified for the most frequently investigated PFMF.
Data Synthesis: Sixty-four studies were included, and a low risk of bias was identified. All studies presented terms and operational definitions of PFMF, but only 29.7% presented conceptual definitions of those terms. One hundred ninety-six different terms referred to PFMF. According to similarities in terminology, 161 PFMF terms could be grouped under 26 terms; the other 35 were left ungrouped. Therefore, a total of 61 different PFMF terms were identified in the literature.
Limitations: A limitation in the study was that only observational studies were included.
Conclusions: A large variation in PFMF terminology was identified, precluding data gathering and meta-analysis. The lack of use of standardized terminology delays the progress of scientific knowledge and evidence-based practice dissemination. Efforts toward creating a collaborative, consensual terminology based on a sound framework are necessary.En ligne : https://academic.oup.com/ptj Permalink : https://ifm3r.centredoc.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=16267 [article]The contribution of virtual reality to the diagnosis of spatial navigation disorders and to the study of the role of navigational aids: A systematic literature review / Mélanie Cogné in Annals of physical and rehabilitation medicine, Vol. 60 n° 3 (June 2017)

CerveauTags : Spatial navigation Virtual reality Brain-damaged patients Ageing Stimuli Aid Résumé : Introduction : Spatial navigation, which involves higher cognitive functions, is frequently implemented in daily activities, and is critical to the participation of human beings in mainstream environments. Virtual reality is an expanding tool, which enables on one hand the assessment of the cognitive functions involved in spatial navigation, and on the other the rehabilitation of patients with spatial navigation difficulties. Topographical disorientation is a frequent deficit among patients suffering from neurological diseases. The use of virtual environments enables the information incorporated into the virtual environment to be manipulated empirically. But the impact of manipulations seems differ according to their nature (quantity, occurrence, and characteristics of the stimuli) and the target population.
Methods : We performed a systematic review of research on virtual spatial navigation covering the period from 2005 to 2015. We focused first on the contribution of virtual spatial navigation for patients with brain injury or schizophrenia, or in the context of ageing and dementia, and then on the impact of visual or auditory stimuli on virtual spatial navigation.
Results : On the basis of 6521 abstracts identified in 2 databases (Pubmed and Scopus) with the keywords « navigation » and « virtual », 1103 abstracts were selected by adding the keywords “ageing”, “dementia”, “brain injury”, “stroke”, “schizophrenia”, “aid”, “help”, “stimulus” and “cue”; Among these, 63 articles were included in the present qualitative analysis.
Conclusion : Unlike pencil-and-paper tests, virtual reality is useful to assess large-scale navigation strategies in patients with brain injury or schizophrenia, or in the context of ageing and dementia. Better knowledge about both the impact of the different aids and the cognitive processes involved is essential for the use of aids in neurorehabilitation.En ligne : http://www.em-consulte.com/produit/rehab Permalink : https://ifm3r.centredoc.fr/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=14915 [article]The Feasibility of a 3-Month Active Rehabilitation Program for Patients With Knee Full-Thickness Articular Cartilage Lesions: The Oslo Cartilage Active Rehabilitation and Education Study / Barbara Wondrasch in JOSPT (Journal of orthopaedic and sports physical therapy), Vol. 43 number 5 (May 2013)
